Oxygen is the most important clinical gas used in health centers and hospitals. No modern hospital could be managed without oxygen generators (PSA oxygen machines, oxygen generators). Pure oxygen is a vital resource during anesthesia in the operating room, for patient breathing, in intensive care or in the neonatal ward. The continuous high demand for this gas imposes a huge expense on hospitals. Currently, hospitals purchase oxygen from manufacturers of bulk oxygen generators (PSA oxygen machines, oxygen generators). Bulk oxygen is purchased in both liquid and gaseous forms. These sources of oxygen can be a financial burden as large hospitals spend more money in a year on oxygen supply alone.

Medical oxygen generators offer a tremendous convenience because there is no hassle of handling oxygen cylinders, no department to maintain inventory and accounting. PSA/VPSA technology is used in the manufacture of oxygen generators because the compressed air is passed through an air filtration and drying system and is well conditioned before the twin bed system contains a special grade of zeolite molecular sieve as a desiccant, which has the property of preferentially adsorbing moisture before adsorbing nitrogen and other gases in the air.

The adsorbers are operated one after the other at one-minute intervals and in a recirculation mode so that oxygen is continuously produced. Both adsorbers are interconnected with a seven-valve scheme that operates automatically with the help of sequencers. The generated oxygen is collected in a reservoir called "buffer tank". To improve the regeneration process, the high-capacity unit is also equipped with a vacuum pump.

A storage tank is also provided to supply oxygen to the entire hospital via a pipeline.
