[Suzhou XITE Gas] General provisions on the safe management of oxygen

(1) Never allow grease or other rapidly flammable substances to come into contact with oxygen cylinders, valves, regulators, meters, hoses and fittings. Oil and some oxygen can combine to produce a violent explosion.

(2) Never lubricate valves, regulators, gauges or fittings with oil or flammable substances.

(3) Do not touch oxygen cylinders or appliances with oiled hands or gloves.

(4) Always keep connections to piping, regulators and other appliances tight to prevent leakage. Where hoses are used, they shall be kept in good condition.

(5) Never use an open flame to check for gas leaks. A leak detection device or commercial leak detector should be used.

(6) Keep sparks and flames away from oxygen cylinders and equipment.

(7) Never interchange regulators or other appliances for one gas with similar equipment for another gas.

(8) When an oxygen cylinder is in use, the cylinder valve should be fully open.

(9) Never mix gases in oxygen cylinders (the mixture should be prepared in advance by an approved supplier).

(10) Before an oxygen cylinder is delivered for use, the wrapping paper should be removed so that the label on the cylinder is clearly visible.

(11) Before an oxygen cylinder is used, the gas contained in the cylinder shall be identified by the label on the cylinder. If the cylinder label does not identify the gas contained, do not use the cylinder and return it to the supplier.

(12) Do not damage or remove any markings used to identify the contents of the oxygen cylinder.

(13) When returning empty cylinders, close the valve before transport. If valve protection caps and outlet caps or stoppers are used on oxygen cylinders, reassemble these parts before shipment. Also, cover the DOT green, yellow, or red gas label with an empty cylinder label, and remove the lower portion if the oxygen cylinder is used with a combination shipping and DOT sticker.

(14) No part of an oxygen cylinder containing compressed gas should be exposed to temperatures above 54.4°C (130°F). Never allow any part of a compressed gas oxygen cylinder to come into contact with a flame.

(15) The user should not arbitrarily alter, improve, damage, block or repair cylinder valves or pressure relief devices on oxygen cylinders.

(16) Never attempt to repair or alter an oxygen cylinder.

(17) Oxygen cylinders from a supply unit should never be used for any purpose other than to provide the gas for which they are filled.

(18) The valve of an oxygen cylinder should always be closed unless the gas is actually being used.

(19) If it has been found that there is a possibility of foreign substances getting into the oxygen cylinder or valve, the supply unit should be informed promptly of the details and the cylinder number.

(20) Do not place oxygen cylinders where they may form part of an electrical circuit.

(21) Oxygen cylinders should only be repainted by the supplying unit.

(22) Handling of compressed gases should only be carried out by experienced and properly instructed persons.
