The main way that human beings can effectively use high-purity nitrogen is to synthesise ammonia， but the conditions required are very high. In recent years， people are trying their best to figure out the mechanism of plant nitrogen fixation， and strive to simulate biological nitrogen fixation by chemical methods， so as to achieve the exploitation of nitrogen resources in the air under mild conditions.

High-purity nitrogen is mainly used in the synthesis of ammonia， the reaction formula for N2 + 3H2 = 2NH3 (conditions for high pressure， high temperature， and catalyst， the reaction is reversible) or synthetic fibres (nylon， acrylic)， synthetic resins， synthetic rubber and other important raw materials.
